Its a GIRL!!!!

Yea!!! I dont think I could be happier at this point in my life. I have a wonderful husband, a beautiful home, three great dogs, two crazy cats, and a baby girl on the way!!! I am very blessed.

John and I's ultrasound was on the 28th of April. We were both soooo excited and sooo nervous at the same time. I was almost sure it was going to be a little boy that we were looking at because everyone told me I was having a boy, alas it was not! Turns out the baby that we had been saying him and he too all along was really a little girl. Johns reaction to the news was priceless. As much as he was trying to be happy, you could see the hurt in his eyes...he wanted a little boy sooo badly. But within 24 hours that completely changed and he is sooo excited to be the daddy of a little girl. Everything looked great on the ultra sound.. Baby Girl is measuring in at 21 weeks perfectly and all her organs and limbs are right were they are supposed to be. The only thing that was starteling for me was that my big belly is measuring in at 25 weeks! uh oh! The doctor said that this is fine and it helps with insurance to pay for the ultra sound :) She also said that she would keep a close eye on my throughout the rest of the pregnancy to make sure baby girl doesn't get too big.. We really don't want her to be as big as her daddy and preferably not as big as her mommy either. (John was 10.12 and I was 9.3!) So with all that being said worst case senario they might have to induce me a week early and if little girl is still too big then a C-section is in my future :( We will cross that road when we get to it.

So that is our new and exciting news. We are thinking about names and have started to call our little girl Kennedy! We even added her initials to the concrete that John poured the other day! I love that name and can already picture her as a Kennedy!.

Well we would love to have anyone out to our home now that it is going to be finished very soon! We have lots of room and you can even have your own bathroom!!

We miss you all and hope to see you very soon!

XOXO

House work, NKOTB and a moving baby!!!

Hello everyone! I figured I would update the blog tonight since we are busily getting ready for a baby in a little over four months! John, as most of you know, loves to start new projects around the house. We decided not too long ago to get rid of our ugly unmatched wood trim and put up new white all matching trim. So, this morning, Home Depot delivered a ton of new trim and we started to put it up! It does look very very nice! Not only did we get some trim up but we also finished the tile in the foyer! It still needs to be grouted but its a lot better than the ugly pink and oragne marble that was originally there. So those are the updates on the house, and i am really looking forward to all this so we can start getting the baby room going! :)

Now onto the baby topic.... For the past week or so I swear that occasionaly I have felt the baby moving around. I will feel a little flutter or tap inside my belly every now and then, but on Thursday afternoon when I was driving home to Davenport for the NKOTB concert and talking to John on the phone, I felt my belly get really hard! I said "OH hunny I think that the baby is moving" and just as I said that there were three or four little movements in my tummy! It just was the most amazing feeling ever! I continue to feel the baby moving every now and then but not nearly as profound as when I was on the phone to John!

And now onto the NKOTB concert! Wow what an amazing show! I had the privledge of getting to go to the NKOTB concert for the second time in the past few months with my very best friends from high school and my sister -in-law Beth! The concert was amazing and I think I could go see them all the time. It brought back so many memories of being young and having no worries. I was able to pick up the baby its first onesie! It says Step by Step on it with little baby footprints. I LOVE IT!

Well everyone that is our life in a nutshell! I hope everyone is doing well. As always we miss you all and can't wait to see you hopefully soon!

Love,

16 Weeks down 24 weeks to go!

What a busy week we had! On Thursday John and I went down to Davenport to get the final things out of our house and to sell it to a new couple. I knew that this would be very hard on me since I loved that house soooo much!!! But it was a lot worse than I thought it would be. I think I teared up three or four times as we were signing papers , and then continued to tear up as I drove by the house and saw them moving in. I guess that house had a little bit of my heart and it was such a starting point in our life as a couple and I didn't want to let it go. :( I am sure that it was also due to the fact that it was our connection to Davenport as well, and now we don't have that. (yes i know we can stay with family, but its not the same)

So on a happier note, I had my doctors appt on Tuesday of this week and I got to hear the heartbeat again!!! (John couldn't make this appt due to work :( ) Baby Guys heart rate was 142! This was a big difference from a month ago when it was 162, but the doctor assured me that this was completely normal and that I shouldn't be worried. I have also begin to notice that I can no longer roll over on my stomach, becasue of a bump in my tummy :) what a great feeling!! Our next doctors appt is August 28th! We will find out at this appt if we are having a boy or girl!!! Almost all my friends on facebook voted that its going to be a boy! We will see if they are right.

Well we hope everyone is doing wonderful and we would LOVE visitors so please make a trip to come see us! We miss you all!!!!!

15 weeks and counting!

What a busy week we have had at the Guy Household! I was fortunate to have both my parents come and visit our new house for the first time over the weekend. My dad came on Saturday morning and got the tour of our house before him and I went to Cedar Rapids for Lexies showchoir competition. While I was there, John worked on the house and has it now 99% painted! Central High School came out as grand champs at Jefferson and it was soooo fun to watch and be apart of her win. They really do have a fantastic show. The competition ended around midnight and after it was over I drove Mom and Lex to our house in Denver to stay the night. We woke up the next morning and gave them a full tour of the house and then went to breakfast in town.

Yesterday we got some crazy news that the buyers of our house want to close this week, and a few hours ago we got the exact time of when our wonderful home in Davenport will no longer be ours. John and I will be in Davenport on Thursday around 1:00 to sign away our house :( As sad as this is going to be, and as I sit here just thinking about it, I tear up, it really is the best thing for us to move on physically and financially.

Yesterday was also a highlight day in that John and I put in an underground fence for our dogs. Smokey was trained almost immediatly and Dallas is getting close, so hopefully within the next few days we will be worry free from runaway dogs :)

As far as this baby goes, I am 15 weeks along and approaching 16! We have our next doctors appt next week and I can't tell you how excited I am to have a probe on my belly again! Hope this finds everyone well. MIss you all!

Shopping

So I guess I have been pretty bad at updating this thing lately. A couple of weeks ago John and I were home visiting friends and family. On Saturday while he was having male bonding time, I was able to go out with my mom maternity clothes shopping. We had a wonderful time and finished off the day with some sushi (dont worry, mine was all cooked) at Osaka in the mall. I got some really great clothes and a couple of dresses that I can wear to work once it gets a little bit warmer. My mom also got Baby its first book, Pat the Bunny, this is sooo special because this was our favorite book when we were little. Saturday night we went over to Mike and Marys to visit with them and were able to see Baby Eva, who is getting so big and Baby Tyler. It was such a fun time and John and I both love seeing our niece and nephew, it makes us really wish that we lived closer.

I have been feeling wonderful, and am almost 15 weeks along. We have our next appt. on March 24 and I can't wait to hear our babies little heart beat again. Hope everyone is doing well and we would love to have visitors!

We miss you all!!

First Doctors Appt

We had our very first doctors appointment on Tuesday. John and I were both very excited. When the nurse put the doppler on my stomache and we heard the swoosh swoosh of Baby Guys heartbeat i almost jumped out of my chair. After the initial exam we got to go and have an ultra sound done. I was wondering what we would actually see since Baby Guy is only 12 weeks old :) The tech put the probe on my stomache either baby loved it or it scared him/her because he/she was moving around like crazy! I just wanted to sit there all day and watch her/his tiny heart beat. I was seriously moved to tears. It was amazing in just a short amount of time how you can already see the fingers and toes! I was sooo glad that John was there with me. I knew he was such a proud daddy when he had just sent a facebook message saying that he saw "Jrs" heartbeat. It was amazing! Our next appt is March 24th and then we find out if baby guy is a boy or girl on April 28th! I don't care either way as long as its healthy.

Baby Denver Drama!

Thats right, NO BABY mama drama around here! But boy oh boy do we have drama in Denver! Just a little update on our housing situation. Well... we are meeting with an lawyer tomorrow morning to find out what our rights are as far as this house. As much as I LOVE the house and everything that it has in it, I do understand that there are a lot of problems; and it would be better if we found a different one. So hopefully tomorrow we will have a better idea if we are staying or moving. And hopefully the bank will be understanding either way, but I am not counting on that at all. Our realtor is a dick, and continues to pressure us into not taking any further action.
For those of you who don't know whats going on with the house, after we moved in we discovered that the entire plumbing in the house has to be replaced, the furnace isn't large enough to handle the house, the workmanship was terrible, things are loose, or dont fit...i could probably go on for awhile. But it is a lovely home and if we are forced to stay here we will and just have to fix some of this stuff ourselves. :(

As far as our little one goes...we its still very small, and even though john swears at time he can hear it...he can't. :) We have our first doctors appt next week. All it is is an informational meeting with our Doctors nurse and then we will have the official first appt in February...at the beginning of trimester 2! I am looking very forward to that date!

Other than the first couple of paragraphs all is well here and we really miss Davenport a lot! Can't wait to see you all the next time were in town!

Love,

The Guys

Were having a baby!!!

Well the word is out. Yes, John and I are having a baby. I figured I would utilize this blogging thing so everyone can see whats happening in Denver, IA as John and I figure out the crazy world of parents-to-be. So I am sure everyone is wondering how I told him and I found out myself. Its actually kinda funny. I was at home with our internet installer, oh yah this was December 30th, and I was talking to my sister about being preggo. Anyways... I didn't feel pregnant, actually I believed I wasn't at all but with Johns birthday coming up and New Years Eve on the same day I wanted to be 100% sure that I could have some drinks and be okay! So i got off of the phone with her and took the test. I don't think I will ever forget my reaction when that thing came back positive. Now remember I couldn't scream or jump for joy... I mean we did have some internet guy there who didn't know me at all and I just thought it would be weird sharing my excitement with him before any of my family or my husband. I just sat that for a moment and looked and smiled and then got up, paced back and forth clutching that thing for dear life and praying to god that my eyes were not fooling me. I then immediately called my sister Abby, who was in the car with my mom, and told her. My mom was a little pissed I didn't call her first...whoops... But yes so I shared my news with my immediate family. I really wanted to wait till Johns birthday to tell him. I had it all planned out. I was headed to Ames that afternoon and i was going to pick him up and ISU onesie and wrap it up with the stick. Well.... that didn't happen like I wanted it too. He came home and I told him that I needed to get on the road so I could go get his birthday present. Well then the banter started back and forth or what I was getting him. He wanted a blackberry, and a gun, and a truck. And when I told him that I wasn't going to tell him what I got him, he asked me if I was pregnant. Okay for those of you who know me... I can't lie. And I definitely couldn't lie about something like that. So I told him that I wasn't telling him. And when he asked again I couldn't say no. Lets just say he was kind of in shock. He wanted proof and he wanted me to take another test... but overall he was sooo happy. He called his parents right away to share with them our news. He even called some of his friends! So yes, that is our story and we are both so thrilled to be parents to our future little one.
I know that we are only four weeks along and not due until September so all the prayers would be great so that we can get through the 12 week bump. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers and we can't wait to share more fun and exciting baby news with you all!
